This three-day workshop provides a unique opportunity to understand and manage patent conflict situations as they typically occur to SMEs.

Patent professionals and experienced practitioners from industry will present methods and best practices as well as giving useful insights. In practical group exercises participants will solve fictional case studies under the guidance of the trainers.

The first day will comprise an introduction to patent management, focusing on patent valuation, i.e. understanding the commercial importance and value of patents for an enterprise, both large and small.

The second and third days will concentrate on conflict management, covering allegations of patent infringement, as well as strategies for enforcing and defending your own patents. Licensing in particular will also be considered as the friendly way of resolving patent disputes.

Comprehensive documentation including guidelines, tools and templates will be provided to the participants as paper handouts and in electronic form.
