Please be informed that the European Patent Academy will run a public virtual classroom session on "Amendments to the Implementing Regulations to the European Patent Convention (EPC) as of 01.04.2010". The session will take place on 23 March 2010 at 10.00 h CET. The attendance is free of charge.

EPO Director Patent Law, Mr Ingwer Koch, will provide information on the amendments that enter into force as of 1 April 2010.
In particular on:
- new Rule 62a and amended Rules 63 & 64 EPC (clarification of subject-matter for search)
- new Rule 70a EPC (invitation to respond to extended European search report)
- amended Rule 161 EPC (obligatory response to negative WO-ISA / IPER)
- modifed Rule 137 EPC (amendments)
and their transitional arrangements.
He will also present in detail the amended Rule 36(1) EPC (filing requirements for divisional applications and the related time periods).
It will also be possible for the participants to communicate live with Mr Koch, either by chat or by headsets (use of such is recommended).
