ip4inno: intellectual property training for businesses
Nú í haust mun EPO standa fyrir þremur námskeiðum vegna IP4inno verkefnisins. Námskeiðin eru einkum ætluð viðskiptaráðgjöfum og öðrum þeim sem koma að ráðgjafastörfum vegna hugverkaréttar fyrir ný eða lítil og meðalstór fyrirtæki.
Um er að ræða þrjú tveggja daga námskeið sem haldin verða í Vín, Haag og Munchen. Nánari upplýsingar er að finna hér að neðan.
New enterprises and SMEs rely upon business advisors and technology transfer professionals to advise them on how to protect and commercialise their new ideas. Their routes to market depend upon a solid understanding of strategic uses for patents, trade marks and copyright. Would you know how to advise them?
The ip4inno suite of intellectual property (IP) training modules can help, and the European Patent Office (EPO) is offering three 2-day ip4inno training workshops this autumn. These "train the trainers" workshops equip participants with practical IP knowledge to help others, and will address such important topics as:
- The patent system - how, where and why
- Patent information as a source of technical help and commercial intelligence
- A tutorial for how to make the most of the EPO's free patent database - esp@cenet
- The specific IP issues in the "Creative Industries"; in the software and computing sector; and in the biotechnology industries
- Trade mark and design registration systems
- Protecting and exploiting know-how, trade secrets and confidential information
- IP enforcement, litigation and dispute resolution; piracy and counterfeiting
- Applying IP to real business problems (with five team exercises)
- How to sell the importance of IP awareness and strategy to SMEs and start-ups
(Note: only four topics are available at any one workshop)
The workshops will be run on the following dates at EPO premises in:
- Vienna - 28 & 29 September 2009

- The Hague - 5 & 6 October 2009

- Munich - 26 & 27 October 2009

Please follow each link above for more information and to register.
Each 2-day workshop will be run in English, and will feature four of the twelve 3-hour modules. Places cost just 200€ - but are limited to just 20 trainees per workshop. So please register early to guarantee your place!
In addition to the four modules taught at each workshops, participants will receive access to all twelve modules and supporting teaching materials from the dedicated ip4inno website (www.ip4inno.eu), so that they can teach others in a wide range of IP topics.
What is ip4inno?
A consortium of European institutions - all with expertise in IP and/or business support and training - have come together to create twelve 3-hour IP teaching modules under the European Commission's ip4inno project (part of the Pro-Inno platform of activities). These modules were specifically designed to give business advisors and technology transfer professionals the knowledge they need to teach and advise others on a range of IP matters, including enforcement, commercialisation and strategic use of patent information. This "train the trainers" programme is not a clumsy attempt to turn intermediaries into IP lawyers, but rather will prepare them to help new businesses and SMEs face the IP challenges and opportunities of the innovation process.
